Getting Involved: Social Action

Social Action Committee

The Social Action Committee addresses issues that have a social, political, or environmental impact on us as Jews and as citizens of the community. In keeping with the Union for Reform Judaism's resolutions and guidelines, the Committee works to develop programs that educate and motivate the congregation to make a positive difference and help those in need. We seek the support and active participation of members of the congregation in political forums, speaking engagements, and community projects, as we work together to fulfill our mission of tikkun olam: repairing and healing the world.

MITZVAH GARDEN: The Mitzvah Garden was planted during Mitzvah Day. Now we need YOU! We need volunteers to help with watering and weeding the garden throughout the summer and fall and help with harvesting the vegetables and delivering them to the Urban Ministry. If you can help with any one or all of these activities from June through September or even a few weeks during this time, please volunteer to lialewis@triad.rr.com or call Lia, 423-7383. This can be a nice Mitzvah project for an August/September Bar/Bat Mitzvah candidate.

NEW MEMBERS WELCOME: This is a great time to join our committee and bring your ideas for the coming year. All Temple members are welcome to participate in the Social Action activities. Just send an email to Brenda Henley at Bhenley@tegreensboro.org. You do not have to attend all monthly meetings… just get involved NOW!
