Welcome Prospective Members!

Shalom! We are delighted that you are interested in Temple Emanuel. We welcome you, and we hope that you will find our Temple a comfortable and inviting place of fellowship, worship, learning and community service.

We are a Reform congregation of approximately 560 families, and we are a member of the Union for Reform Judaism. Within our walls you will find a thoughtful balance of rich tradition and contemporary thinking. Our dynamic rabbinic leadership - Rabbis Fred Guttman and Andy Koren - our members and our staff strive to meet the needs of our diverse population. We provide a number of opportunities for congregants to express their faith. At Temple Emanuel you will find engaging events that are social, spiritual, intellectual and service-oriented.

We invite you to participate in all aspects of Temple life: attend Friday evening or Saturday morning services, study with us at Saturday morning Chevrah Torah, observe a committee meeting, attend High Holidays (and/or celebrate any other religious holidays with us) or volunteer at one of our many community service events. You will find that Temple Emanuel offers you the opportunity to grow spiritually while you play an important role in improving Greensboro as a community.

There are meaningful ceremonies and events for congregants of all ages. We have vibrant religious school and pre-school programs, there are numerous opportunities to travel to Israel and other countries to explore Jewish history, and our adult education program offers a variety of continuing education courses.

At Temple Emanuel we have a fair share dues policy. While it is important that we have adequate funding to meet the needs of our congregation, no one will be denied membership for financial reasons. We know that discussing finances can be difficult at times. Our dues committee is flexible and helpful, and they have capably and confidentially worked with many different financial situations.

We encourage you to come and spend some time with us. We hope that you will find Temple Emanuel a sanctuary in the ever-increasing chaos of daily life. Please feel free to contact Laura Bonasia, Executive Director of Temple Emanuel at 336-292-7899 to ask any questions or schedule a tour of the Temple. If you so desire, we are happy to help connect you with a mentor or support family to help you along your journey.

B’Shalom,
